Lunchtime Concert Series - Friday 4th October 2013

On Friday 4th October, the college music department held its first Lunchtime Concert Series. This as held in P09, and is one of the many concerts to come. This week, many talented AS and A level students performed to friends and other musicians, helping them to gain performance experience and show off their skills. There were 8 musicians in total; Alys Anthony, George Berry, Callum Black, Jacob Brown, David Wedlake, Sasha Wedderburn, Charlie Taylor, and Natalie Piantino, with the instruments ranging from violin to the voice. All of the performers played and sung exceptionally well, and I can only hope that the next Lunchtime Series will be just as good!

Welcome to Hollywood! Freshers 2013

On the 10th of October the college refectory was transformed into a Hollywood party venue, complete with bouncers, a red carpet and 'sex on the beach', for Freshers 2013. The guys turned up looking very dapper in their suits whereas the girls owned the red carpet wearing gorgeous dresses and heels.

As you arrived you walked along the stars passing huge trophy statues, leaving Reigate behind and entering into the world of Hollywood. Inside the refectory the Student Union had done an amazing job of transforming the room into a Hollywood Venue, as voted by the lower 6th. Even from looking around you could tell everyone was having fun. People were being crowd surfed and dancing on each other's shoulders. Hands thrown in the air and singing at the top of their lungs.

During and after the event I asked a few people on their opinions of the night and received replies such as 'yeah I had fun, it was pretty good actually, I'm glad I went in the end', 'there was a good vibe to it' and 'oh my gosh, my legs feel like they're going to snap because I've danced so much, it's really good though'. So as you can tell it was a huge success.

Now let us pause for a minute and remind ourselves about one of the main factors about Hollywood and the lifestyle of a celebrity. You guessed it! What would Hollywood be without its paparazzi? So get ready to cringe. Here are a few of the photos from the night along with quick videos! For the rest of the photos taken during the night here is a link to the college Facebook page:

Last of all before the first ever Blue Monday blog post ends a huge thank you to all those who attended and made the night as good as it was, to the DJ’s for supplying us with amazing music and finally to the Student Union as without them and their efforts there would not have even been a Freshers party. Thank You!
